History

A small group of car enthusiastics who enjoyed their Corvettes formed a car club in 1983.  The name Tejas Vettes was chosen.  The name Tejas is a Caddo Indian name for Friend.  A few months after forming the Corvette club,it's members applied to join the National Council of Corvette Club, more commonally known as NCCC to become a part of a nationally recognized organization of Corvette owners.    At that time NCCC required that a club have at least 10 members to be recognized.  The Charter Members of Tejas Vettes were:  Jack and Dorthy Bolowskie, Charles and Norweita Beth, Mike and Sherry Liddell, Edward and Carol Enoch, Bob and Corinne Cornwell.  In 1984 Tejas Vettes received word that NCCC had accepted their application to become a sanction club and be part of the Southwest Region.  The Southwest Region of NCCC consist of Texas, Oklahoma, Arkansas, and  Louisania.

In 1985 a group of about 13 people transferred from another NCCC club in the same region to Tejas Vette Club, bringing new ideas and suggestion to the club.  The transferred members who joined were familiar with the workings of NCCC and the Southwest Region.  With that valuable information the transition went efficiently and smooth.  In 1986 Tejas Vettes became a incorporated club thus protecting its officers and members.  Since then Tejas Vettes has become known as a very progressive and competive club all over the Southwest Regionalong with very friendly members.  Although Tejas is still a small club (20 +- members) we are a closeknit club that we all consider our second family.  Most of the members are highly knowledgeable of the rules and regulations of the NCCC, thus making it easy to put on sanctioned events.  The members of Tejas Vettes Inc. are willing and able to conduct the highest standards of excellence during an event.  There is an abundance of technical knowledge within the membership also.  You could be thinking you may not have the experience nor the knowledge to compete against seasoned owners/drivers.  No problem, any of the members are willing to mentor you through the learning process to become a Corvette enthusiast.  Some of the members live in the Dallas/ Ft Worth area where others may live 50 to as many as 100 miles away.

Occasionally at regional or national events a question may arise about the proper classification of a car or someone maybe having a problem with their car.  We are there to help if needed.  In 2002 Tejas Vettes placed 2nd in points in the NCCC Southwest Region competition, ahead of much larger clubs.  The main interest of the club is using the car for which it was intended for, PEFORMANCE.  Safety is the main concern to all members of Tejas Vette Club Inc. as well as NCCC.  Although going fast is the prime interest, unruly, dangerous, or impaired driving will not be tolerated with Tejas Vettes Inc. nor NCCC.  Tejas members try to participate in as many NCCC events as possible.  When members participate they will receive points as the club.  Every Corvette enthusiast can find their ninch within Tejas either by Autocrossing, Drag Racing, Councours, Funkaha, Road Trips, and don't forget the partying and socializing with other lovers of the "Only American Sport Car" Chevrolet Corvette.

It is not how fast you can go in your Corvette, but how to go fast in your Corvette.
